This year  saw the return of a kneelboard division to the annual Opunake Board Riders Club Classic with space being provided on the schedule for two kneelo heats and a final.

Held at Arawhata Road, the site of a recent shark mauling on holidaying ex-pat kneelo Pete Garrett, conditions were marginal - small  but contestable.

It was great to see the blend of new kneelos having ago, those loyal ones who have been around for years and young kneelo off springs making it to the finals.

Results were as follows

1st    Chip Andrews
2nd   Craig Dingle
3rd    Maukino Skeleton
4th    Kelvin Weir.

All in all a great event in tough but sunny condition at A Road.

Next KSNZ event will be the Labour Weekend Opunake Kneelo Classic which will also serve as a trial for under 18 kneelos heading to the worlds in Tahiti 2013 (date TBA for the Worlds) Entry forms and information for the Labour weekend comp will be released in September.

Gentle reminder that all those who wish to be members of KSNZ a $20-00 subscription is charged. This money goes entirely towards Surfing NZ affiliation and helps ensure that kneeboarding has a voice in the wider surfing community.
